Kay Aikin is the CEO of Introspective Systems, a software company based in Portland Maine. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and holds a degree in energy/sustainability engineering. She has spent her career as an energy engineer, architectural designer, and business development executive.
She has spent years working with Dr. Caryl Johnson studying the application of complex system design in relation to a variety of problems but especially in the integration of Distributed Energy Resources into the electrical grid. Kay's focus has been on IoT applications in the electrical grid as an expansion of her experience in sustainable technologies. She is a recognized Transactive Energy expert and is a regular speaker at conferences on this topic as well as intelligence on the edge for optimal use of energy resources. She is a member of IEEE Power and Energy Society, Smart Electric Power Alliance and the Seismological Society of America. She is an active participant in the Transactive Energy Working Group, Building to Grid Working group for the Smart Electrical Power Alliance, Grid Wise Architecture Council and the International Transactive Energy Working Group.
Additionally, she has 25 years of experience in the construction industry with a focus on founding and running design/build construction companies, managing multi-million dollar sales teams, and consulting on business development projects. She believes strongly in giving back to the industry having worked as a Regional Vice President of the Pennsylvania Home Builders Association in helping to shape responses to industry and community concerns.

Mr. Talha Ali has over 8 years of experience in the power systems industry and currently serves as a Senior Energy Consultant on the project team. Ryan Blinn is a technical and program leader at Westinghouse with over twenty years of experience in engineering, innovation and operations. His background includes project/program management, product management, product development, process engineering, and risk management.
Mr. Blinn currently leads the eVinci™ Micro Reactor development program for Westinghouse, one of the largest R&D efforts underway in Westinghouse innovation. In this role, he is accountable for all aspects of engineering, testing, licensing and commercialization for the exciting new nuclear technology. To progress this technology, he leads a team diverse and experienced personnel throughout the Westinghouse organization. Prior to his current role, Mr. Blinn previously served as the program and product manager for the eVinci program along with other advanced reactor programs.
Mr. Blinn joined Westinghouse in 2009 and has held various management positions throughout the organization. He served as the Risk Lead for the AP1000® Vogtle Units 3 &4 new plant project, responsible for risk assessment and mitigation on the new plant project. Following this role, he held positions of increasing responsibility on the Westinghouse Small Modular Reactor (W-SMR) project leading the project from inception through preliminary design. His most recent role prior to the eVinci project was within the Global Instrument and Controls organization, where he led a product line for plant upgrades.
Prior to joining Westinghouse, Mr. Blinn worked in the petrochemical industry for NOVA Chemicals and PolyOne Corporation, and in chemical demilitarization for Stone & Webster Engineering. His leadership in both manufacturing operations and product development resulted in substantial benefits and profit improvement with these companies.
Mr. Blinn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. He is current/past member of the American Nuclear Society (ANS), North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChe) as well as the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Dr. William M. Conlon has a track record as an engineering executive at multi-national energy firms successfully commercializing utility-scale power systems. As founder and President of Pintail Power, he has invented and is commercializing thermal energy storage systems that are hybridized with thermal power plants to provide the lowest-cost, long-duration, large-scale means of storing renewable energy.
Dr. Conlon has been involved in high efficiency and low-carbon energy systems since receiving his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked in nuclear power, co-invented the control system for the first Cheng Cycle steam injected gas turbine power plants, and has been a serial entrepreneur specializing in rapid innovation and commercialization.
Prior to Pintail Power he turned around venture-backed Ausra, leading its CSP technology to price-performance leadership, and was instrumental in the merger with AREVA, creation of a billion dollar backlog, and led engineering, commissioning, and operations teams in America, Australia and India.

In 2016, Mr. Hajabed founded NRStor C&I, which became the largest behind-the-meter energy storage developer, owner, and operator in Canada. Prior to leading Aypa Power, Mr. Hajabed served as Senior Vice President with Active Energy, a wholesale natural gas and electricity supplier, where he initiated and led the company's commercial & industrial business. During his tenure, he successfully completed numerous acquisitions, spearheaded and grew the company's P&L, and managed a dispersed team across trading, risk management, technology, operations, legal and regulatory, origination, sales and back office functions.

Thomas Hawes has twenty-four years of diverse experience in the energy industry. Lauren Lathem is a Research Engineer within Southern Company's Advanced Energy Systems group. She is currently supporting the development and demonstration of advanced nuclear technology including molten salt reactors and micro nuclear reactors. In this role she has had the opportunity to support technical and economic evaluations of advanced nuclear reactor systems. She has assumed the role of Technical Lead on the Southern Company primed Advanced Reactor Concepts award to develop TerraPower's Molten Chloride Fast Reactor. Her role continues to expand to include the financial analysis and comparison of alternative low-to-no carbon power generation technologies.
Lauren joined Southern Company in 2015 as a Process Engineer in Gasification Technology. Her focus was the marketing of Southern Company developed Transport Integrated Gasification (TRIG™) technology. Lauren managed communication with international utility and oil companies to advance these marketing efforts and she conducted high-level process analysis for potential customers.
Her initial project was the development of the TRIG™ Reference Plant. The Reference Plant effort consisted of the identification and implementation of process improvements for TRIG™ projects and the generation of a corresponding cost evaluation. This cost evaluation fed into Southern Company's Generation Technology Data Book and the Integrated Resource Plan.
From 2013 to 2015, Lauren gained engineering experience while working as a Process Engineer for Jacobs Engineering and Jacobs Consultancy in Houston, Texas. She conducted both front-end feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects for U.S. Gulf Coast Refiners during her time at Jacobs.
Lauren earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and a Minor in Business from Auburn University in May of 2013. Her continued training includes participation in internally sponsored technical and professional development classes and externally organized conferences.

Alex Marshall is the Group Marketing and Compliance Director for Clarke Energy. Clarke Energy, a KOHLER Company, is an international specialist in the engineering, installation and maintenance of low carbon and renewable gas fuelled power plants. Alex has the lead global role for his functions and reports to the Chief Executive Office, Jamie Clarke.
As a business Clarke Energy has sold and installed over 7GW of power generation equipment globally and operates in 27 countries. These projects include combined heat and power plants for industry, peaking stations for grid balancing and biogas plants treating waste and converting it to renewable power. The business is also looking to use its engineering skills to expand into hybrid power plants.
Alex has an MBA from Manchester Business School and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and a Chartered Environmentalist. Alex was invited by Number 10 Downing Street to join Prime MinisterTheresa May's 2018 visit to Africa. He was also introduced to HM Queen Elizabeth II at the 2016 International Festival for Business. In 2015 Alex was named by social media giant LinkedIn as one of the 'top ten most engaged marketers in the UK'.

Clint Medlock is a project manager for Southern Nuclear Development, a subsidiary of Southern Nuclear Operating Company leading the company's innovation and advanced nuclear technology efforts. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Technological University.
Medlock joined Southern Nuclear in 2005 and brings nearly 30 years of nuclear energy experience with various utilities as well as architectural/engineering and consulting firms. At Southern Nuclear, he has held several engineering, design, maintenance and construction oversight positions at the corporate office, Plant Farley and Plant Vogtle 3&4.
In his current role, he provides program management consulting expertise to advanced reactor companies. Southern Nuclear Development is working closely with several advanced reactor developers to conceptualize and design non-light water reactors. Medlock's engagement and leadership in programs like these are helping ensure Southern Company will continue to have energy options while meeting its' commitment to net-zero greenhouse emissions goal.

Scott E. Rasmussen joined NuScale Power as Director of Sales in September 2018, primarily being responsible for all aspects of developing domestic and international customer partnerships to implement NuScale's SMR power plant technology. This followed an extensive career in GE Power and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH), where he last held the position of Vice President, PRISM Product Line - Nuclear Plant Projects. In that role Scott led the establishment of the vision for the commercial and market strategy, and directed the product and technology development for the PRISM product line. Prior to that role, Scott was the ESBWR Senior Product Manager, as well as having held several other business critical positions within GEH.
During his time in GE's Power division, Scott gained experience working with global power plant developers and utilities, and has supported numerous large power projects in the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Scott has also spent time in various engineering roles and leadership positions in commercial operations, project management and supply chain.

Prior to muGrid, Amy designed and operated spacecraft - microgrids in orbit - as a Systems Engineer with Lockheed Martin. Her technical expertise includes system and software architecture, system-level performance modeling, and design tradespace analysis. Amy has coached and consulted on business development, marketing, and sales for startups and small businesses, and is an internationally recognized speaker on Design Thinking and Iterative Development for entrepreneurs. Amy holds an MS in Astronautical Engineering from the University of Southern California and an SB in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jamie has over 20 years' experience leading high-performance teams including P&L leadership and large complex global sales organizations in power generation and industrial companies. He is currently Global Vice President of Business Development for Generac's Commercial and Industrial business unit. In this capacity Jamie has built and scaled a global commercial organization to focus on the rapidly growing distributed generation market opportunity. This includes channel development, new product commercialization and transforming a legacy business model to meet the demands of new market dynamics being created by microgrid and other distributed generation solutions.
Jamie started his career in power generation at General Electric after serving 10 years as an officer in the United States Coast Guard. He held several leadership roles withing GE's Distributed Power Business including Commercial Leader for North America's gas engine business, with over $400M in sales annually. In addition, Jamie spent three years at the American Bureau of Shipping in various roles, including Americas Division President, where he held P&L responsibility for a service organization of 700 marine engineers and surveyors.
Jamie received his Bachelor of Science in Operations Research from the United States Coast Guard Academy, a Master's of Science in Engineering from Stanford and his MBA from Emory University.

Nicholas Smith is the Deputy Director of the National Reactor Innovation Center. In this role, he is responsible for supporting initiatives to provide resources to reactor innovators to test, demonstrate, and conduct performance assessments to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear technology concepts. Smith most recently was the Generation IV nuclear reactor R&D program manager at Southern Company Services. In this role, he was responsible for highly leveraged collaboration with reactor designers, national labs, influencing policy makers, and early engagement with regulators. He was also the technical lead on a $40 million DOE Advanced Reactor Concept collaboration to develop TerraPower's Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR), a collaboration with TerraPower, Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and Vanderbilt University.
As nuclear R&D program manager, he has created and managed work scope definition across multiple organizations to deliver nuclear R&D products such as uranium flow loops, molten salt corrosion tests, plutonium salt thermophysical properties, micro-reactor management systems with remote monitoring, and a 1MW electrically heated integrated effects test of the MCFR. He also led, on behalf of Southern, the proposal development to demonstrate the Westinghouse eVinci nuclear micro-reactor. Additionally, Smith led the Molten Salt Reactor Technology Working Group (MSR TWG) as Chairman where he was responsible for coordinating engagements with national labs, DOE, and NRC to work on regulatory issues, common technical challenges, and consensus standards related to MSRs. Smith holds an Economics Degree from San Diego State University, an Electrical Engineering Degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Master of Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Jim Spano's strong financial background and expertise in real estate and land development give him a unique perspective among solar energy developers. Mr. Spano has played a key role in the development of projects totaling over 300 megawatts in solar generation facilities.
Mr. Spano is a managing partner of Spano Partner Holdings and leads other ventures as a nationally recognized expert in solar development and finance. He is the co-founder and head of originations at RadiantREIT, which will be the first solar mortgage real estate investment trust in the country, established to offer long-term, fixed-rate debt that enables more self-ownership and healthier balance sheets. Jim is also the co-founder of My-Resi, an energy storage development company using aggregated residential solar plus storage to operate as virtual power plants.
He is the founder and president of the New Jersey Solar Grid Supply Association (NJSGSA), vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Solar & Storage Industry Association (MSSIA), on the board of the International Battery and Energy Storage Alliance (IBESA), a conference committee member of the Intersolar North America Conference, and an advisory board member to several renewable energy companies in the United States.

Kelly Speakes-Backman is the first Chief Executive Officer of The U.S. Energy Storage Association (ESA), the national trade association for the American energy storage industry. Kelly leads the association's efforts to represent the interests of energy storage in the United States, including policy, external relations and industry leadership.
Prior to joining ESA in 2017, Kelly was part of the executive team at Alliance to Save Energy, a premier trade association representing the energy efficiency sector. As the Senior Vice President of Policy and Research, she directed the policy efforts, working closely with industry and policy makers to advance energy efficiency.
Kelly served as an appointed Commissioner with the Maryland Public Service Commission, from 2011 to 2015. As an adjunct to the Commission, she also served as chair of the Board of Directors of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, as a co-vice chair of the NARUC Committee on Energy Resources and the Environment, as a co-chair to the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnership's EM&V Forum, and as a member of the EPRI Energy Efficiency & Grid Modernization Public Advisory Group.
Kelly has spent more than 20 years working in energy and energy efficiency, sustainability, renewables, and environmental business strategies. Her direct technology experience includes power generation from solar, wind, biogas and biomass, distributed generation, natural gas, smart grid and fuel cells. She joined the public service sector in 2010 as the Clean Energy Director at the Maryland Energy Administration, where she led a team of policy experts and grant administrators to implement programs to meet the Administration's goal of increasing Maryland's renewable energy portfolio to 20 percent by 2022.
Kelly has served on several energy-related steering committees, including the GridWise Alliance, the Grid Modernization Index Steering Committee and the SEPA 51st State Initiative. She has testified to Congressional Committees on energy issues, and presents regularly at industry events and webinars. She has been quoted in Bloomberg, MarketWatch, CNBC and NPR's Marketplace, and has contributed to numerous opinion editorials in industry trades. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors at the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) and as a member of the External Advisory Board of Georgia Institute of Technology's Strategic Energy Institute (SEI). In 2019, she was honored by The Cleanie Awards® as Woman of the Year and was nominated in 2020 to serve as a C3E Ambassador. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Boston University.

Steve has more than 30 years' experience working in the electric and natural gas industries, which includes purchasing electricity and natural gas in competitive markets throughout North America. Steve models retail and wholesale electric market costs, and has expertise designing, interpreting and modeling regulated electric and natural gas rate tariffs throughout North America. Among other areas, Steve leads delivery of our Distributed Energy Resources and Demand Response related services. Steve holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University and DGCP certification from AEE.

In addition, he works on policy issues both in the United States and overseas and has hosted or attended a variety of policy think tanks.
Previously to his business, Mr. Zellner served in a host of high profile Government roles including as Policy Director for the State of New Jersey, Deputy Commissioner for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Executive Director of the State's land use planning office. In addition, he has significant experience in providing regulatory support and permitting assistance in the many different areas of the green building sector.
Mr. Zellner has published a variety of articles and papers and continues to speak globally on the developing world of green infrastructure and resiliency financing. Mr. Zellner has a degree in Economics from Rowan University and serves as an adjunct Professor at Rutgers University.
